Norfolk Day at the Norfolk Farmers Market

And a good time was had by all on Saturday, August 15th…Norfolk Day!

We know everyone loved Norfolk Day at the market. A big crowd came out to enjoy lively music by Jordan Rose Lee, Jonathan Hall and Andy Styles, and visit the Norfolk businesses and organizations that joined our farmers and artisans for this one special market. The list was posted on our Latest News page.

But that wasn’t not all! Visitors could follow the footpath on the side of Town Hall and find special giveaways and discounts by merchants on Station Place and Route 44, just to celebrate Norfolk Day at the market! Even though Norfolk Day is past, you’re invited to visit them and discover what they have to offer.

Aija hosted a book signing by Gina Hyams, author of The Tanglewood Picnic, which celebrates the eight-decade tradition of picnicking on the lawn at Boston Symphony orchestra’s summer home in Lenox, Massachusetts. Aija also offers 10% off any Saturday purchase to Friends of the Market (artwork, books and trunk show items excluded). Aija is no longer occupying its storefront, but do watch for popups and trunk shows around Northwest Connecticut!

Haystack Pizza – 32 Greenwoods Road West (Route 44) – gave a free slice of pizza or cup of soup to Farmers Market attendees on August 15th only. Friends of the Market receive 10% discount off your entire bill. Open at 11 o’clock.

Mountain Spirit Liquors – 20 John J. Curtis Road – gave a 10% discount on beer purchases, 11 o’clock until 2 o’clock August 15th only. They also offer a 5% discount to Friends of the Market when the market is open on Saturdays.

Norfolk Hair Station – 2 Station Place – celebrated Norfolk Day at the Market by offering specials on hair feathers, temporary hair colors, tinsel and much more. They were inside the salon and outside on the street from 10 o’clock until 2 o’clock. The Hair Station is also a business Friend of the Market.

And be sure stop by to say hello at Wood Creek Bar and Grill, and pay a visit to those nice folks at the Post Office, the National Iron Bank, the Artisans Guild and at Station Place Café, where Friends of the Market get 50 cents off a cup of coffee on Saturdays.

Last, but not least, our heartfelt thanks to our Norfolk Day sponsors Aija, Broad Field Farm, Matt Riiska, Mountain Spirit Liquors, National Iron Bank, Norfolk Hair Station, Robert Pallone CPA and Ruthie Melville. Their generous support made all the extras possible!

We also appreciated the volunteers who helped at this event, and invite you to sign up for other Saturdays! Please see our Volunteers page or email Theresa.
